Biotech newbie here. Am looking for a way to do my own Hep C and HIV tests on used and discarded needles and other drug paraphrenalia left in our neighbourhood. Wondering if Pearl gel box will help me in accomplishing this. If not, any pointers? Thanks.
Hep C or HIV testing?

First of all, personally I would not recommend even touching discarded needles without proper safety gear! As far for how to get started on doing your own forensic work, I would recommend joining the DIYBio mailing list (http://groups.google.com/group/diybio) and ask if anyone specifically work on HIV and Hep C detection. In addition I would recommend doing some journal reading on what are the accepted protocols people use to detect them.
