Thanks for the funky design, however there seems to be a fundamental problem-DNA can be easily damaged by prolonged UV exposure (even 10-20 seconds exposure could cause pyrimidine dimers to form and compromising the function of the DNA http://www.epibio.com/f3_3/f3_3ev.asp). .. If this happens it would be very difficult to do any cloning/'engineering' to your DNA.
How about UV damage to DNA?

Great point killerbunnyx -- that's exactly why we used blue LEDs in the Pearl Gel Box, rather than UV!
This means you can view your DNA the entire time and then take your DNA and clone with it.
